Alright, let’s talk about this star stuff, the luminaries or whatever they call it. My old man used to say, “The stars don’t lie, but folks do.” So, I guess there’s somethin’ to it, this astrology thing.
First off, they talk about these “signs.” Like, you got your sun sign, that’s the one everyone knows, right? It’s the one they yap about in them magazines at the grocery store checkout. Says somethin’ about you based on when you were born. Sun sign, they call it. Like if you popped out in the summer, you’re one thing, if you were born in the winter, you’re somethin’ else. Don’t make a lick of sense to me sometimes, but there ya go.
Then there’s this moon sign. That’s a whole ‘nother story. They say it’s about your insides, your feelings, you know? The sun’s what you show the world, the moon’s what you hide. Kinda like how I hide the good cookies from the grandkids. They ain’t gettin’ them all! Moon sign is all about the feels, I reckon. Makes you moody or happy or whatever. Who knows?
- Sun sign: What you show off.
- Moon sign: Your inside stuff.
- Rising sign: How folks see you at first.
And then, there’s this rising sign. That’s the one they say is how people see ya when they first meet ya. Like, do you seem friendly or grumpy or what? It’s kinda like your first impression, but with stars, I guess. I always tell folks, “Smile and say ‘howdy,’ that’s all you need.” But these star folks, they got charts and calculators and all sorts of fancy things to figure it out.
Now, how do you find these signs? Well, you gotta know when and where you were born. Not just the day, but the time too! Can ya believe it? Like my old man used to say, “Time and tide wait for no man.” And apparently, neither do these stars. They got these websites and books, ephemeris they call ‘em, where you punch in your birthday and they spit out all this information. You get your sun, your moon, your rising, and a whole bunch of other planets too. More planets than I got chickens, I swear.
These city folks, they got calculators for everything, even for figuring out your stars. They call it a “Sun, Moon, Rising Signs calculator.” Well, I never! Back in my day, we just looked at the sky and guessed if it was gonna rain. Now they got computers tellin’ ‘em if they’re gonna be happy or sad. Times sure have changed, ain’t they?
So, what do these signs all mean? Well, that’s where it gets complicated. They got all these different combinations, like a recipe. A little bit of Aries, a dash of Taurus, a pinch of Gemini. And each combination means somethin’ different. They got readings for every single one, like little stories about your personality. Some of ‘em sound right, some of ‘em sound like hogwash. You take what you want from it, I say. It’s like my old man used to say about the weather, “Take it as it comes and make the best of it.”
Now they got this “big three” they talk about. That’s your sun, your moon, and your rising signs all put together. It’s supposed to be the core of who you are, according to the stars. Like the heart of your star self, they say. Sun, moon, and rising – that’s your big three. Sounds important, huh? But I still think it comes down to how you treat people and whether you work hard. Stars ain’t gonna plow the fields for ya.
And don’t even get me started on all them other planets. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, all the way out to Pluto, which they say ain’t even a planet no more. Each one of ’em does somethin’ different, affects somethin’ different in your life. Too much to keep track of, if you ask me. Too many planets, too much confusion. I’ll stick to the sun and the moon, thank ya very much. They’re bright enough for me to see, no fancy telescopes needed.
At the end of the day, it’s all just a bit of fun, I reckon. Some folks take it real serious, some folks just shrug and move on. Me? I figure it’s like readin’ the tea leaves. Might be somethin’ to it, might not. But it gives ya somethin’ to think about, somethin’ to talk about. And who knows, maybe there’s a little bit of truth in it all. Maybe the stars do have somethin’ to say, even to an old gal like me.
But don’t go lettin’ them stars boss ya around. You’re the boss of your own life, stars or no stars. That’s what I always say. You make your own luck, work hard, and be kind. That’s more important than anythin’ them stars can tell ya.
